There is nothing about a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly…

But you can tell when a butterfly was once a caterpillar.

An army of legs, held down by the use of simple directions, left, right, forward and backward,

But not anymore.

Open to attacks, I was trapped when all I could do, was stay put and hope,

But not anymore.

Skilled in disguise, they were a custom when you’ve become accustomed to living this low,

But not anymore.

I may have been out of sight and out of mind, noticeable only to those who noticed,

But not anymore.

The world, measured in inches, it’s easy to say that it’ll take me all day to travel this “mile” that’s so far away,

But not anymore.

I used to think that everyone was like me, when a top tree was the best spot to sight see,

But not anymore…

I’ve came a long way from who I used to be. Though the outside reflects to what you see of me, the inside is a reflection of what has become of me. The days of believing my feet are meant to rest on the ground are over. No longer is my defense to stay put, but to move and adjust. No longer are disguises a custom, but they are forgotten. No longer am I noticed to only those that notice, but recognized for being noticeable. No longer is the world measured in inches, but hardly measured at all. No longer is the top of the tree the best spot to sight see, but only just one spot to see.

I used to think that I could live by the use of the simple directions, left, right, forward, and backward,

But no, not anymore…
