Imagine this. You’re driving in the car, cruising the open freeway, listening to a newfound jam, and then you see the Millennium Falcon execute a full aerial barrel roll right outside the window. How crazy would that be? Well it seems Canadian photographer Thomas Dagg has wanted this to happen since he was a kid. And eventually just took thing into his own hands by making it real.

By inserting characters and popular elements from the Star Wars franchise into modern, urban, and some common landscapes, he portrayed a truly unique perspective in these creative black and white photos. To do this, he used different focal lengths to shoot the real life shots and 5-inch toys so that they matched perspectives and angles. In an interview with PetaPixel, Dagg went into detail about his approach:

“I ended up shooting all the toys etc on neutral grey so I could take the shadows and blend it in using soft light or overlay modes. It would only really work if the seamless ended up being the perfect density, but it saved me so much time painting in shadows etc.”

“Shooting them imperfectly was actually rather freeing,” he explains. “I’d pull my phone out of my pocket and shoot the scene super quickly a few times in order to get what my natural ‘snapshot’ imperfect framing that I’d then match with my camera.”

These are some really dope photos! It just shows you that anything is possible… An extremely creative eye and great perspective can make for some amazing things.
