My 2013 PHXFW Experience
This past Friday, I had the opportunity to attend Phoenix Fashion Week 2013 for the second year in a row and I can easily say that they are definitely stepping their game up.
As for any business or creative brand out there, you should always look to out-do yourself in any way possible. And when you’re at the helm of a something that is as cultural as Fashion Week, you need to be constantly looking for ways to take things to another level.
This time around, after attending the PHXFW Emerging Designers event this summer, I felt a bit more involved and in the knowing of who was actually looking to make a name for themselves verses some of the already established fashion brands. I know it must’ve been an awesome experience for the emerging designers to see their work in action because I know I enjoyed every moment of it just watching it unfold. I’m also glad I got to see the likes of some more Menswear creep into the show this time. Not that I don’t like checking out whats new in women’s style (because believe me, a woman with style get me every time), but to actually see more practical looks that I could wear was a definite plus. Even though I didn’t get a chance to view my favorite designer from last year Elevee, I got the opportunity to become a fan of a new designer Paulie Gibson. I also caught wind of another up and coming brand Loin Cloth out of LA thats making a splash as well.
All in all, I enjoyed PHXFW the second time around and I hope they keep pressing the envelope forward for years to come. Be sure to check out everyones collection from Friday and the other nights as well at PHXFW.
