Vancouver-based artist Fiona Tang and her large-scale murals are some real “beasts” when it comes to making these animals literally jump off the wall. 

With a use of a technique called trompe l’oeil, which uses the shadows, dark tones, and perspective, and begins to turn the 2-D drawing into something that looks 3-Dimensional. A largely apparent tool used in the mural community, this obviously isn’t something simple, but an interesting technique to practice with… And by the way, I had no idea what trompe l’oeil was until I looked it up. It’s amazing what you can learn when you want to learn it…
