Part I

A dream come true in more ways than one, “Daydreaming at Night” was not only a huge success to everyone eye’s that attended, but it was the beginning of a creative experience that is certainly on the move.

Branching into event production with a group of other creatives assembling a group called Square 1, “Daydreaming at Night” was Part 1 of a 3 part series of artistic and creative experiences that are going to be happening at MonOrchid Gallery in downtown Phoenix throughout the year. Jumping off in style and focused on the visual arts portion of the series, the Director of Visual Arts Brandon Greer (Founder of My Boy B) created an environment that was fun to be in alongside the other team members of Square 1 Tatiana Young, Jay Tatum, and Felicia Gaines, it turned into a show above everyone’s expectations…

Six different visual arts, four different poets, one incredible fashion display, a photo lounge/garden, and then the perfect set of music to keep you moving throughout the night. Square 1 seems to know the recipe to put on a dope show. Shedding light on the visual arts but still giving all three aspects of Square 1 a piece of the action, from the moment you walked in the building, that feeling of being captured by the room created a vibe that was being passed around from person to person. Set in the time and space, everyone knew they were at something special. Something that could inspire a thought for later. A picture they can’t wait to show their friends the next day. We wanted to get you to dream a couple hours early and I think we accomplished that…

A BIG special thanks to the visual artists that hung their work in the creative “gallery in the gallery.” Everyone couldn’t help but wander around and be amazed by the pieces of artwork surrounding the space, the reactions were great all the way around.

For the poets and the lineup that Jay managed to put together, they drive the night more than anyone would’ve thought. With their words of wisdom, strength, power, and inspiration, the “awe” factor was strong with these guys. I can’t wait to see what we come up with for the next show. It’s gonna be nice!

Then comes the fashion display with (@thedirectorofdope) Myles Daughtry of DIVE Clothing. The suddenness might have caught everybody off-guard, but once it got your attention, you were locked in to the end. Coming from the back and mobbing the crowd, the overall notion to visually turn the models into photos that represent the art within fashion design, the product came out amazing! Shout out to the Directors of the Fashion Series Tatiana Young and Felicia Gaines who assisted with me in bringing the whole idea together. We gotta do something like that again.

We also have to give a BIG shout out to our good friends and media sponsor, Couture in the Suburbs. They’ve been with our plan to bring something new to the community since day 1 and they’re just as excited to see the shows success as we are. Thanks for hanging with us! We hope you liked what you saw!

To the MonOrchid, we can’t wait to continue to grow and build upon these creative experiences happening inside your walls. The atmosphere was perfect and the building was the root of all of it.

If you happened to miss “Daydreaming at Night”, make sure to be there for “Vibes & Verbs” when Jay Tatum takes the helm and introduces herself to the creative community as the Director of Literary Arts. A poetry performance with a bit of theatrical flavor, once again mixed with the other forms of art (Fashion and Visual Art), Part II is something you might want to look into.
