On June 13, 2014 I had the pleasure of being in attendance as Phoenix Fashion Week introduced their 14 new Emerging Designers showing in Fashion Week later this fall.

Like in previous years, these designers were discovered following Phoenix Fashion Week’s 10 city tour of the country and made stops in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas and Phoenix. And from the looks of it, the hometown city of Phoenix is going to be well represented with an astounding 7 local designers accounted for.

In competition with each other for an opportunity to launch their brand at Phoenix Fashion Week at Talking Stick Resort, the designers are also put through an active 4-month Emerging Designer Bootcamp taught by PHXFW Executive Director Brian Hill to learn the “ins and outs” about what it takes to build a successful brand.

Battling for a $10,000 (value) prize package to help launch those brands, these designers are also fighting to become PHXFW’s “Designer of the Year” and have their lives completely changed. And I’m sure recent PHXFW Winners Dolcessa and Bri Seeley can attest to that as their careers have sky-rocketed since their walk down the runway.

Ready to take the next step in becoming an established brand designer, these contestants have a lot on their hands now. And I’m sure that’s exactly what they all wanted. Rooting for the local talent to stand out, I hope each designer has something special for us and Good Luck to them all.
