For as many new artists I meet and talk to as I go to all these exhibits and art galleries, I always seem to notice that the best ones tend to pay a little more attention to detail than the others. Whether it be precision or creative madness, the details show your skill. These illustrated sketches by Salvador Dalí might be a throwback, but they are prime examples of just that.

To prove my point, I recently came across a collection of illustrations done by one of the greats in Salvador Dali. Attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters, Dalí’s expansive artistic repertoire included film, sculpture, and photography, in collaboration with a range of artists in a variety of media. Created in 1967, Dalí’s dreamlike depiction of the Zodiac symbols show why he is one of the most influential artists of all-time. Carefully characterized, Dalí represents each sign with a wildly creative view on how the Zodiac looks in his fantasy-land of a mind.

(P.S. And if you’re a little confused to what is going on with Cancer, it’s hard to say if he either didn’t know or chose to artistically ignore the difference between a crab and a lobster… But at least it’s a cool looking lobster though. haha)
